Savor the Slow Life:

A Wellness & Terroir Retreat at a Private French Château

October 8-12, 2026

La Cropte, France

single occupancy: $3800 USD

double occupancy: $6500

Join us for this restorative 5 day/4 night retreat in storybook France at Château de la Carrière, guided by physician and renowned yoga teacher, Ingrid Yang, M.D., C-IAYT, E-RYT-500.

A Private Château Sanctuary in the Pays de la Loire

Tucked into the tranquil countryside near Laval (easy TGV from Paris), Château de la Carrière is an ivy-kissed 19th-century estate with guesthouse and elegant rooms, set amid gardens and farmland—perfect for deep rest and sensory renewal. Group transfers are included from Laval train station on arrival and departure days.

    Holistic Well-Being, Crafted with Place

Mornings invite gentle movement, breathwork, and journaling; afternoons immerse you in the rhythms of French country life—visit a local goat farm to watch milking, learn proper cheese etiquette with a cheese trolley dinner, hand-craft paper at a historic paper mill workshop, and cook together with fresh regional produce. On the final night, savor a chef’s dinner with matched wines and commentary—more convivial than a formal tasting, and perfectly attuned to the menu.

    Nourishment from Garden to Glass

Expect relaxed, elegant meals with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients and mindful enjoyment—paired wines when appropriate, and ample time for tea on the terrace or a sunset stroll through the grounds of the property.

    An Intimate, Transformative Escape

This retreat blends wellness rituals with authentic local craft and terroir—an unhurried way to reconnect with your body, your senses, and the simple pleasures of French chateau life. Capacity is intentionally limited for spaciousness and personalized attention.

    Q&A

    1) Do I need yoga experience?
No. Practices are gentle and adaptable—ideal for beginners through seasoned practitioners. Expect options and props, with an emphasis on breath, mobility, and nervous-system downshifting.

    2) How do I get there?
Take the TGV from Paris to Laval; we’ll meet you at the station for a group transfer to the château. Return transfers to Laval are also included on departure day.

    3) What makes Château de la Carrière special for a wellness retreat?
A lovingly restored 19th-century château with guesthouse and gardens in a serene, rural setting—elegant spaces, creative workshops, and authentic local experiences (markets, cooking, cheese, wine) that naturally support slowing down and savoring.

    4) What’s included in the culinary experiences?

Brunch, an afternoon snack and lavish dinner. There will also be a dedicated cheese-trolley dinner with guidance on tasting and etiquette, a cooking class using regional produce, and a final-night dinner with specific wine pairings and commentary. *Wine is included with dinner*

    5) Are the excursions strenuous?
They’re easy and experiential—short rides to a goat farm and paper mill, plus time to wander the grounds, read in the salon, or rest before evening apéritifs.

    6) Can you accommodate dietary needs (vegan, gluten-free, etc.)?
Unfortunately, the chateau is unable to accomodate gluten free or dairy free, but can accomodate vegetarians and pescatarians. Other food allergies may also be accomodated but please check with Ingrid to ensure this.

    7) Is there free time?
Absolutely—each day balances guided practice with generous downtime for journaling, napping, or exploring the gardens.

    8) Is transport included?

Transportation is included from the Laval train station.

    9) What is the cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is designed to be as accommodating as possible within the constraints of a highly sought-after retreat. All deposits are non-refundable. After the full payment due date of March 15, 2026, your deposit is still non-refundable, but if you’ve paid in full and must cancel, you can receive a refund of the balance provided this is done before the due date. After March 15, if you cannot attend, you are welcome to find a replacement attendee, subject to approval by Ingrid.

    10)  Do I need trip insurance?

Given the terms of our cancellation policy, purchasing travel insurance is strongly recommended. This ensures that you are covered in cases of unexpected cancellations due to illness or other unforeseeable circumstances. Many credit cards provide excellent travel insurance options, so it’s worth checking with your provider.
